15 years in service as Lear employee (June 07, 1991 – June 07, 2006)
“I will keep all the memories in my heart ‘till the day when my memories will fail to recall and locate the steps where I exactly started.”
It seems just a while way back June 7, 1991 when I got hired as production operator in one of the multi-companies in Mactan Export Processing Zone. I’ve been working in Lear Corporation with love and dedication of my work. I put my heart into it in every single task hoping that I may be able to share my talent and the blessings that I have to my family.
My goal in life is an inspiration to me to move on despite of struggles and difficulties, being motivated to do the daily tasks from production operator to machine operator then to utility operator, and promoted as engineering aide and currently as process engineer. With this job, I was able to send my siblings to school. In the span of time I met some special friends that continually supported me and encouraged to pursue my college (I have taken AB Industrial Psychology because I knew this would help me discover my personality and a prerequisite course to pursue my dream). It has been more than a decade that I have been working and have kept losing myself for my family but I think it’s an achievement to see them grow up and become matured in life. Some of them have built their own families and the rest have already been employed. I’ve been there supporting from their childhood until they have caught fish for their own as I have promised my mom a month before she passed away.
I can’t deny the fact that for my 15 years of working...... I don’t have any savings.....not even a house for my own. What I got was the amount of debt in the bank. What a life? One day when I was reading, some texts stroke me, the quote of Gandhi: “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” I thought to myself, "Am I in the right path? Tell me, where do I go from here? Did I grow up from what you have expected me after a decade of training/performing in the stages of life? All I wanted to do is to continue to make a passage through time with an endless journey of love, sharing the beauty and the art of life. You know, I was amazed with a friend of mine working as a volunteer teacher in displaced Ati families in Naga, a village adopted by an organization Gawad Kalinga. He earned only 2K a month but he has savings. If you’re in my shoes, what would you do?
MAY HAPPINESS BE OUR CHOICE AND A METHOD OF LIFE
Good day!
I have three quotes’ to share to you; these are about happiness.
- “Happiness is a choice that requires effort at times “ – Anonymous
- “Action may not always bring happiness; but there is no happiness without action” – Benjamin Disraeli
- “Happiness is not a destination. It is a method of life.” – Burton Hills
Problems are temporary; it’s just a hump in our journey. Don’t let the negative force drag you down, let the sun shine your way…smile and have a pleasant and happy days!
